Two Shores consists of the seldom seen work for tired eyes and the first sight of the Disport.
Dark-pigment painted sheets of found printed material made for viewing in ambient day-light constitute the work for tired eyes, while the Disport are photographic tools recomposed.
Two disparate sets of things have been brought together in two rooms, to see what happens — by the hour, at different angles, in changing light.
The exhibition will be refashioned intermittently over the course of its duration.
Biography
Christian Capurro(b. 1968, Dampier, Western Australia) is an artist, photographer and moving-image maker.
Working in Melbourne, he has exhibited extensively both locally and internationally, including at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (Melbourne), Artspace (Sydney), STUK Kunstencentrum (Leuven), Centre for Contemporary Photography (Melbourne), MASS MoCA (North Adams MA), Institute of Modern Art (Brisbane), Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney), Simon Preston Gallery (New York), American Academy in Rome, and the 52nd Venice Biennale of International Art. Capurro’s work is held in most of the major public collections in Australia, including the National Collection.
Christian Capurro is represented by Milani Gallery, Brisbane and this is his first exhibition with ReadingRoom.
